E woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Did not want to do anything until I mentioned playing Lincoln Logs with him. I played with him for awhile and then left him to build on his own. After he was done, I asked if we could play 'making fences' with the logs and he agreed! :-) Hence the following which can be done with popsicle sticks or twist ties or anything straight:

I did the ones on top and he did the ones on the bottom. Endless possibilities with patterning here and can be extended as long as your child wants to. Promotes key reasoning skills, cognitive skills and early abstract thought. Actually, you could also use a variation of buttons, candies, etc. and be creative!
