A few days ago we went to Michael's http://www.michaels.com/ and found them having a 50% off sale on their already inexpensive stocking stuffers which I had no interest in during the overcrowded Christmas season. This time though I had deliberately planned to seek out el-cheapo style the cheapest things I could purchase to add to E's fun in learning. Just looking for simple, clean and focused things. In learning, less is definitely more for us. So I found these:
Not the black bear but these medium sized dinosaurs which were at $0.50 each! E is passionate about them so I bought them.
E's first journal at $1.00
E's journals and some other writing implements are stored in his roll-top secretary style desk as seen here in his bedroom.
At $1.00/pc I had to purchase two more as E is very much into his nightly journaling. Must add that there were more choices for girls than there were for boys there.E makes sure to write his name besides other things in his chosen color(s) for the day.
Second entry which spanned 2 pages (might have gone overboard with it and maybe do like a whole journal an evening! LOL!) It's been two pages a night ever since!
At $1.50 each, I purchased two boxes of these delightfully colored dominoes for math games and a whole host of other fun things to do with them, e.g. highrise dominoes as found on Kid O but at a much lower cost. Can't beat that! I have since removed these from their boxes and they are now stored in clear jars for added visual interest.Didn't take anymore pics but I also purchased some really nice storage boxes in solid colors for E's increasing collection of 3 part cards. They have them in designs too which would fit in nicely in our den, come to think about it! Hmmmm.....new ideas!! :-)
So, hurry to Michael's if you have one close to you and you may find treasures waiting for you there .....
