New Year Activities and Games - color pages, book reviews, crafts, puzzles, party games, word searches, poems, stories and much, much more!

In my usual style of cycling through various websites, I found these.........

Simply go to http://www.apples4theteacher.com/holidays/new-years-day/ and
http://www.teachervision.fen.com/new-years/teacher-resources/6649.html and
http://www.topics-mag.com/internatl/holidays/new-year/page.htm

For extension work:

"All over the world, people welcome the new year for it is one of the oldest of all holidays. Most New Year celebrations focus on family and friends. It is a time to reflect on the past and envision a future, perhaps, in a world where people live together in harmony.

In the United States we celebrate the New Year on the first day of January but not all New Year celebrations take place on the same day or in the same way! Sometimes this is because people in different parts of the world use different calendars. China and Israel keep a lunar calendar. It is based on the movement of the moon around the Earth. Some countries celebrate in the spring when new crops begin to grow or in autumn when the crops are harvested. Adults and children have many different ways of welcoming the New Year. Wouldn't it be fun to travel around the world and celebrate the New Year all year long?"

Er, Phebe, the last link is broken - and wrong :) Actually I checked just that, because Baisakhi is an Indian (real Indian, not American Indian or West Indian LOL) festival, not Hispanic. Would you like to update this with some correct information?

Thanks so much, Swati! That's terrible on my part. Apologies if I offended you or any Indian. To make matters worse, my own dad is Malaysian Indian! Thanks for checking and then letting me know about it. I would love to have correct info. to make the required correction. Thanks again.
