The almost deafening, increasing dBs of the cicadas led us to this lesson. Since the temperature and weather have been cooperative these past few days, we have been having our suppers on the porch. Our porch is really like a huge tree house since it's elevated and it is surrounded by trees on most parts. So, it is during these suppers when we would be entertained by the cicadas. My husband enlightened me about these insects and decided to find them so that we could see them. I've never really seen one before since I'm from another part of the Earth. In short, that's how we arrived at this lesson. Big Little E is just so interested in animals of all kinds and this was well received. Nothing better than the real thing when it comes to learning - he had sensorial lessons with them which is a much needed extension in any lesson to achieve the totality of the purpose of any learning.
Big Little E worked on The Fish as well today. We did the puzzle, then 3 part cards and drew the fish from the puzzle pieces as well as worked on the Empire Angelfish. He learned the functions of the parts as well.
For Sensorial work, he did the Sound Cylinders.
He did some workbook for letter writing and actually finished his entire math workbook yesterday. Took about a week. He loves math but not so much the alphabets. He has to be encouraged before he would try. I'm working on it.
