A 'Free' Day

Today I didn't feel quite myself and so decided to take it easy with my little buddy at home. After seeing my older boys off to school, we did our usual little cleaning up around the house, making beds, sweeping and vacuuming, etc. Then we went out into the yard to water the multicolored mounds of mums we planted in our front yard. Big Little E just loves running outside barefooted and helping with yardwork whenever he can. It's truly a delight to watch him enjoying the simple pleasures in life. Also serves as a reminder for me to stop and smell the roses when I can. I am, by nature, a multitasker and as such am busy almost all day until I retire for the evening.
Since today was a 'free' day due to my 'not feeling up to it-ness', we indulged on fried chicken legs - not healthy I know but we needed a break from the usual fuss with healthy wholesome balanced goodness as well. We drank apple juice though. LOL! It was a rare treat for him who loves the fried chicken legs. He devours it down to the bones!

He made some ghost and jack-o-lanterns from construction paper and normal A4 paper. I cut them out for him while he glued the eyes, nose and mouth for the jack-o-lanterns and he also drew the the eyes, nose and mouth for the ghosts with a black marker.

Then we made daddy long legs from black pipe cleaners and taped them to the wall.

Finally, he made a Halloween 'Spooky Mansion' scene with some foam stickers already precut to some Halloween themed shapes. Simple enjoyment for him to pick the backing off the stickers and sticking them onto the black posterboard. Perhaps he'll tell me a story about it tomorrow!

Well, it turned out to be a simple and fun-filled Halloween craftmaking day. I am glad he had an opportunity to do something he enjoyed while I was unable to keep the usual schedule for him. Perhaps, it was a blessing in disguise.
